Last holiday season, KaPrimers from various units participated in the Paper Hearts Do-Your-Part, an initiative organized by CORE (Center for Outdoor Recreation and Expedition) to promote volunteerism within the Primer Group community.
Members of the CORE Movers, an employee volunteer group of the Primer Group of Companies, kicked off the event last December 3 through a Christmas Party organized for the lolas of the Home for the Golden Gays (HGG), a group of homeless elderly gays in Metro Manila.
Aside from the usual food and games, a beauty contest was conducted for the Golden lolas.
According to HGG President Mon Busa, life has been particularly difficult for the lolas after losing their home and sanctuary in 2012. But events such as this bring joy and energy to them, he added.
“Nae-energize kami, feeling namin humihinto ang mundo, ang ageing process nade-delay when we enjoy, so maraming salamat Primer Group at CORE,” Busa said. “Sana sa susunod ninyong activity, isama nyo rin kami.”
The Business Development and Corporate Communications (BDCC) and Digiworx had a joint Christmas Party for about 30 kids, age ranging from 6 to 10 years old, of the CCT (Center for Community Transformation) community in Cabrera, Pasay City.
According to Business Development Associate Dale Cruz, who was the chief organizer of the event, fun games were conducted, and gifts were given out to the kids who joined the party. “After the program, the kids also surprised us with a performance; we didn’t expect it, it was truly touching , it was indeed a good feeling. We’ll definitely do this again,” said Ms. Cruz.
Villar Foundation kids
The World Traveller team also took part in the program of the Villar Foundation for about 150 kids in Bacoor, Cavite.
According to Kat Velandres, LTS – World Traveller Brand Manager, the team made a pledged that for every luggage sold at their store at the Vista Mall Taguig from November 25 to 27, they will give away one toy to a kid.
“We also invited other KaPrimers to channel their gift giving efforts to the kids sponsored by Villar Foundation,” she added.
KaPrimer volunteer program
CORE Movers President Jim Bautista said, “This initiative aimed to reach those who are less fortunate especially during the season of giving.”
“Thank you to all KaPrimers who donated and spent time with our beneficiaries; for sure we will come up with more activities similar to this, to be able to enrich more lives,” she said. “As they say, we can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
For her part, CORE Program Manager Kristine Villaflor said long-term goal of the Primer Group’s employee volunteer program – CORE Mover – is to encourage and motivate each other to practice volunteerism in all fields-work, member organization, community and home.
“For the past two years, CORE has been conducting outreach activities. Through these activities, we are able to provide KaPrimers an opportunity to volunteer their time, effort and resources. This year, CORE Movers officers and members had a huge contribution in the conceptualization and kick-off of the Paper-Hearts do your part Campaign,” said Ms. Villaflor .
“Congratulations to all CORE Movers officers and members for your devotion in spearheading the first outreach event! From the President to the rest of the officers and their members, Kudos to all of you! We hope for continued success of other projects in the pipeline,” she added. “Thank you to all KaPrimers who have been part of this worthwhile activity!”
