Romi Garduce, the Philippines’ pride, first rose to national consciousness when he successfully scaled Mount Everest in 2006. But Romi’s Seven Summit quest – to climb the highest mountains in each of the seven continents of the world – actually started as early as 2002, when he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa and was finally completed in early 2012 when he reached the peak of Vinson Massif in Antarctica.
The Bataan native’s love for mountain climbing started in his college years with the University of the Philippines Mountaineers. Since then he has reaped numerous awards and accolades such as People Asia magazine’s People of the Year in 2006 and The Outstanding Young Man Award (TOYM) and The Order of Lakandula Presidential Award.
The “Man of Seven” is also a staunch supporter of the environment, raising funds for conservation efforts in his expeditions. When he’s not outdoors, Romi is an I.T. professional for a multi-national company.
His quest to climb the seven summits is proudly sponsored by C.O.R.E.
